Fun Thursdays

Returns to Avondale Heights Childcare & Early Learning Centre in Term 4!

Fun Thursdays continued at Avondale Heights Childcare & Early Learning Centre in Term 3 with much success and a happy time had by children, staff and facilitator Sarah.

Children continued to get to know each other in weekly name games and joined in movement, song and yoga-based activities designed to promote confidence, physical and vocabulary development.  Children were also introduced to the concept and fun of beat and rhythm while using a variety of hand-held percussion instruments.

Sarah is delighted to facilitate Fun Thursdays again in Term 4, 2017 – a program designed to inspire and foster children’s sense of confidence, teamwork and joy with music and movement in a group-based environment.  These sessions will re-commence on Thursdays from Thursday 19th October 2017 in the 2/3, 3/4 and 4/5 year old rooms, at 10.10am, 10.30am and 11.00 respectively.

Sarah’s Background

Sarah is an experienced Occupational Therapist and trained theatrical performer.  She has worked in a number of health and childcare settings for over 15 years, and has facilitated her song and movement sessions for children at Avondale Heights Childcare and Early Learning Centre since 2012.

In Term 4, Fun Thursdays will continue to promote pro-social skills and emotion identification during the welcome song, name game and story-time component.  The children will also be introduced to some engaging new songs to encourage confidence with vocalization in a fun setting.

In Term 4, children will also start practicing some very special song and dance items for Avondale Height’s exciting end-of-year celebration evenings on Thursday 7th (Kinder concert and graduation) and Friday 8th (2/3 and 3/4 year-old rooms) December.

We look forward to another terrific term of Fun Thursdays!
